Former UN Assistant Secretary General & UN coordinator in Iraq,  Denis J Halliday resigned because of the obstruction by Security Council members of the UN attempts to minimise the suffering of the Iraqi people caused by sanctions.

He spoke eloquently at the Feile Bride conference in Kildare in January. & took part in the John Pilger film 'Paying the Price' screened more recently on TV.
