The Wud U Blieve progrm tonight  "offers a rare glimpse of Bagdad and a closeup view of the devastating effects of the food sanctions in Iraq. In 1998 Denis Halliday resigned as coordinator of the UN humanitarian aid programin in Iraq because he declared "The Sanctions are killing the people of Iraq"  In conscience he said that he could not oversee "this genocide".  Would U Believe reporter Mick Peelo puts some hard hitting questions to Tariq Aziz, Iraq's Deputy Prime Minister.

Record this program if u can & show it to your family, friends, school, college, union, etc. As  members of the UN we are complicit in "this genocide" for the past 11 years.  About a million & a half have died todate & about 600,000 of these were children under 5 years old. We must convince the Irish Govt to withdraw support from the sanctions regime now. every day we procrastinate means another 130 dead children   The sanctions are barbaric, & violate the UN charter & just about every human rights convention & charter. 

Attached is a portion of the Caritas Europa (45 sister organisations of Trocaire in Europe)  report, A People Sacrificed, which calls for the immediate suspension of the Sanctions etc. The full report is available from Trocaire (or by email from me).
